Above all, when we looked at this facade we were attracted by the diversity of shapes, materials and graphic effects of the building. Especially the numerous chimneys coming out of the roof.
What are they for?
Where do they go?
Why these shapes?
What happens inside?
These mysterious chimneys were the basis of our research. Integrating our creation in the industrial environment was important for us: that was our source of inspiration.
We wanted to think this facade as a transparent volume as, as a showcase.
Rather than thinking of the screen as a surface concealing the interior of the factory, we wanted to create an illusion of what might be hidden in the building.
The screen would pique the reader’s curiosity and imagination. The Sati coffee roasting plant is a place of movement, transformation, materials, flavours and aromas.
We wanted to enhance this exchange between the natural and the industrial, between the organic and the geometric, through a labyrinth and a play of coloured forms.
